History and Expansion

Piaggio is an emblematic Italian brand founded in 1884 by Rinaldo Piaggio in Genoa. Initially dedicated to the manufacturing of locomotives and train cars, the company diversified into aircraft production during the world wars. After World War II, Enrico Piaggio, son of the founder, focused the company on urban mobility, giving rise in 1946 to the iconic Vespa, designed by aeronautical engineer Corradino D’Ascanio.
